One of my many charity walks. Jebel Toubkal Mountain,
Southwest Morocco. Africa's highest peak.
A New Job: I have taken on a wee part time job (as a Guide at Scone palace) to pay for challenges & flights etc. so that every penny raised goes to the charity.
It’s official. I, Jock Mcinnes, have been appointed as the new Ringside charitable trust Ambassador for Scotland. The post had become available after the recent loss of my lifelong friend Ken Buchanan, and I am more than happy to carry on the work of the great legend of a man in supporting ex-boxers, suffering from depression, alcohol dependency, injuries and illnesses, attributed to boxing.
I received a very nice letter from Karen Night, the secretary and trustee of The Ringside Charitable Trust, on behalf of all the trustees of the charity, asking if I would like to come on board as an ambassador for the charity. Karen added, "Your very good friend Ken, the boxing legend, will be looking down saying, 'That's my pal'," a short statement that brought a tear to my eye.
I replied, "Of course I would, I am both delighted and highly honoured to accept and will of course continue to do my best to uphold the aims and purposes of the Trust".
In sport, I was the army individual boxing champion, and the combined services runner-up. I was also the Midland District Dundee/Fife boxing champion twice and represented Scotland on a few occasions. The former undisputed world boxing champion Ken Buchanan MBE was my best pal and Ken will be sorely missed.
Boxing has been a major part of my life whether as a participant, trainer or fundraiser, and my experiences have always been positive. This positive experience has galvanised me over the years to help my fellow boxers in need, through my many years of fundraising for the Ringside Charitable Trust.
I am proud to represent the Trust as an Ambassador, not just in Scotland but whatever country I end up travelling and trekking in, and look forward to working with the Trustees and our volunteers to further the aims of this very worthwhile charity.
A first for me? I designed a tie, yes with guidance from McDade’s ties in Bridgeton Glasgow, who were very professional. I sat down and designed a bespoke, high-quality tie and produced 100 ties. Embroidered with the charity logo and a nice choice of colours and high-quality material. A tie for the charity (RCT) Ringside charitable trust, so we now look very smart in our new ties when speaking to the media, at professional shows, and events.
The aim of this North Western Italy teek is to trek a network of hiking paths within the Ligurian Alps Regional Park in a mountain range in Italy, (with varying difficulty) and with time depending? I might also trek "Monte Galero" which has an altitude of 1,708 meter's. The image is one of the Beautiful village of Cinque Terre in Liguria courtesy of Pixabay.
Jock Mcinnes MBE“Tandem skydiving” is a training method using a dual-harness system. You jump attached to a highly-experienced instructor who controls the freefall, parachute opening and the landing. The jump will provide a freefall of about 30 seconds and a flight on a high-performance parachute, all controlled by your instructor. (I was scared senseless. An event which will NOT be repeated lol)?
Charity walk up “Mount Kinabalu”. It is one of the tallest mountains in South-East Asia is situated in the East Malaysia state of Sabah on the island of Borneo., 13,435 feet (4,095 meters) above sea level.
“Mount Kilimanjaro “It is the highest mountain in Africa, the highest freestanding mountain in the world, Kilimanjaro is also the highest mountain on the African continent at 5,896m. Jock Mcinnes MBE form Scone, Perthshire, Scotland, climbing one of the most impressive and well-known mountains in the world for charity. (also, I think I, am the 1st person to do it in kilt? Ie Bare bum, true Scotsman)
“The Sahara Desert” is the largest hot desert and the third largest desert in the world (twice); trek 100km through this varied and stunning landscape. One of the best trips I have ever done. Charity walk in a kilt.
Trekking in the Pelion area of Greece, trekking mount Pelion and Stavros, relatively low level of wilderness and elevation, but at 68 it has to be!
“Face your fears with a fire walk.” A fire walk is the most inspirational journey you will ever undertake. It is as the name suggests, a bare foot walk over red-hot wood embers measuring around 800 degrees Fahrenheit. No tricks, no special effects. Just you and the fire.
Mount Etna charity walk. Mount Etna is Europe's highest and most active volcano. Standing at 3.329mt, (10,922ft) high, which can vary with summit eruptions. It is also the highest peak in Italy, South of the Alps. Another charity walk
Jock Mcinnes MBE summited Moldoveanu in 2018, the highest peak in Romania (2544m) for charity. I have been reliably informed NO ONE has ever summit this one in kilt? I did lol.
Jock Mcinnes MBE on the “Mount Elbrus Charity Expedition” to the highest mountain in Russia and Europe, and the tenth most prominent peak in the world. The highest peak in the Caucasus and one of the Seven Summits. With an elevation of, 5,642 m, (very very hard).
“The Gobi Desert,” is the fifth largest desert in the world. One of the world's great deserts, it covers much of the southern part of Mongolia. (I organised this as a football team challenge so, we played football against a team from Mongolia in their own national stadium, something no one from the uk had done before) Wee Willie Henderson (former Rangers & Scotland player) who also took part in the trek and the game.
Mount Toubkal”, is the highest peak in the Atlas Mountains, North Africa and the Arab World. It is an ultra-prominent peak located 63 km south of the city of Marrakesh and is a popular destination for climbers. I took 18 Dundee Fc supporters and two directors with me to travel to Morocco and summit this nice wee mountain (June 2015) which is North Africa’s highest peak. (4,167m). This was a 1st for any team in Scotland, i.e. supporters going that extra mile for their own club’s youth development program.
“Nepal experience.” One of the best trekking packages in the world and it was one of my last overseas adventures for two local/Perth charities. Jock Mcinnes MBE, trekking and taking on white water rafting, as well as taken bundles of stationery to 3 high level Nepalese primary schools, great trip.
If you think I am a wee serious man (which I am if you'll no buy a round lol), Look at this wee video. The easy way down Mount Elbrus.
Using a 27 inch wooden hunting arrow, one end of the arrow is placed at the soft, supple part of your throat, the other end against a hard surface. The goal is for you to bend and then snap the arrow in half, with no damage to yourself.
The arrow break is deliberate movement…and to break it, the move can only be forward.
Just the same in life, everything is forward.
As you place the arrow to the soft, supple part of the throat, you may feel a mix of emotions. One of them being vulnerability, your internal voice could be screaming at you to ‘resist, resist, resist…this is gonna hurt!
